Missile debris injures eight in Qatar after Iran launches barrage | Israel-Iran conflict News

Qatar Intercepts Missile Barrage; Eight Injured

Doha, Qatar – Authorities reported that eight individuals sustained injuries in Qatar following an attack involving missile shrapnel that landed in various locations across the country. The incident occurred amid a barrage of Iranian missiles, which the Qatari air defenses successfully intercepted.

Brigadier Abdullah Khalifa Al-Muftah, head of public relations at Qatar’s Ministry of Interior, indicated in a televised address on Saturday that a total of 66 missiles were fired at the nation. He noted that the ministry received 114 reports of falling shrapnel, with one individual sustaining serious injuries.

In response to the attack, the Interior Ministry issued an emergency alert urging residents to avoid military sites and to stay indoors. Officials advised the public not to approach or handle any unidentified debris and to report such material to the authorities.

Qatar’s Ministry of Defence confirmed it had “successfully intercepted” a second wave of attacks aimed at several areas. The ministry asserted that all missiles were intercepted before reaching Qatari territory and urged the public to remain calm and adhere to official guidance.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the missile attacks as “reckless and irresponsible,” labeling them a “flagrant violation” of Qatar’s sovereignty and a threat to regional stability. Ibrahim Sultan Al-Hashemi, the ministry’s head of public relations, stated the attack contradicted the principles of “good neighbourliness.” He emphasized Qatar’s right to respond “in accordance with international law” and called for an immediate de-escalation and a return to negotiations.

These missile strikes were linked to broader regional tensions, following recent attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran. Reports from Reuters indicated that Kuwait, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain also intercepted Iranian missiles, with Jordan achieving similar interceptions.

This incident marks a continuation of hostilities involving Iran; in June 2025, missiles were fired at the Al Udeid airbase, which hosts U.S. forces, during a conflict between Iran and Israel.

The recent barrage heightened anxiety throughout the Gulf region, as air raid alerts and warnings about unexploded fragments disrupted daily routines, particularly ahead of Ramadan. Regional leaders have been urging restraint due to the escalating conflict.
