Gunmen Abduct Worshippers During Ramadan Prayers in Kaduna State
KADUNA, Nigeria — In a disturbing incident on Thursday night, gunmen believed to be bandits abducted six Muslim worshippers during Taraweeh prayers at a mosque in the Azara community, located in the Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Residents reported that the attackers arrived as the congregation gathered for the evening prayers, firing shots into the air to instill fear before taking their victims. The abducted individuals include four men and two women.
A community source stated that the assailants also targeted another nearby residence during their escape, where they attempted to abduct two additional individuals. However, those victims managed to flee while being led into the woods.
A community leader, speaking on the condition of anonymity, confirmed the abductions and identified the victims as Saifullahi Harisu, Yakubu Yunusa, Abba Minkailu, Yusha’u Sadiku, Maryam Abdullahi, and Aisha Yakubu.
The kidnappers subsequently contacted the community, demanding a ransom of 30 million Naira for the victims’ release.
As of the time of this report, the spokesperson for the Kaduna State Police Command, ASP Hassan Mansur, was unavailable for comment.
