Sapele Police Capture Suspected Armed Robber
SAPELE, Delta State — The Special Assignment Team of the Delta State Police, led by Assistant Superintendent of Police Julius Robinson, apprehended a 21-year-old man suspected of armed robbery early on March 1, 2026.
The suspect, identified as Prince Omanure, also known as Anini, was taken into custody around 3:35 a.m. in the Ghana Area of Sapele. Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Bright Edafe, confirmed the arrest in a statement.
Edafe noted that the operation was prompted by numerous complaints from residents regarding a series of robberies conducted by a motorcycle-riding gang.
During questioning, Omanure led officers to a nearby bush along the Warri–Sapele Road, where they discovered a fabricated Beretta pistol, which was loaded with eight rounds of live ammunition.
The suspect is cooperating with investigators and has provided significant information. Police are actively pursuing additional members of the criminal syndicate.
