APC jittery because opposition is gathering momentum — Dele Momodu

ADC Chieftain Claims APC Anxious Amid Rising Opposition Strength
Dele Momodu, a prominent figure in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), asserted that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is increasingly unsettled by the strengthening opposition in Nigeria. Momodu made his remarks during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Wednesday.
He noted that recent political shifts indicate the opposition’s significant gains, which he believes are exerting pressure on the federal government. “Opposition is gathering momentum, and you can see that even the government is jittery, despite their propaganda,” Momodu stated.
Momodu further alleged that the APC is struggling with internal conflicts across several states, contradicting public assertions of party unity. “Currently, the APC resembles a house of commotion. From Benue State to Zamfara State, there are numerous internal disputes,” he said.
The ADC leader criticized the influx of defections into the ruling party, claiming that many individuals are joining the APC out of fear rather than genuine conviction. “Those moving to the APC now are doing so for various reasons,” Momodu explained. “Governors are concerned about their second terms and are wary of investigations by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and other agencies.”
He emphasized that some governors feel pressured by political and legal challenges, suggesting that the current landscape compels political figures to align themselves with the ruling party. “Governors may feel they have no choice but to submit to the APC leadership,” he added.
Momodu concluded by asserting that the political climate reveals a growing tension within the APC as the opposition prepares for the upcoming 2027 elections.
