Kidnappers Abduct 10 in Kwara State Communities

Ifelodun Local Government Area, Kwara State — Ten individuals were kidnapped this week in the Ahun and Oro-Ago communities, authorities report.

Six of the victims were taken from Ahun, while four others were abducted in Oro-Ago and the nearby Oyate. Among those missing are Clement Emmanuel, a sawmill worker, and his apprentice, Solomon, who were seized while engaged in lumber work. Other victims include two men, identified as Adewole and Adebayo, who were preparing charcoal at the time of their abduction.

Clement’s wife has reached out for assistance, revealing that the kidnappers are demanding a ransom of N10 million for her husband’s release. “Please help plead with them to release my husband. Where will I get N10 million?” she said in a statement.

The Kwara State Police Command has initiated an intelligence-led operation following reports concerning the criminal group. Commissioner of Police Adekimi Ojo stated that officers uncovered plans by the gang to repair motorcycles for criminal activities.

As part of the ongoing operation, authorities apprehended ten suspects, including a mechanic and a logistics operative believed to be aiding the gang. Police also seized ten Bajaj Boxer motorcycles associated with the kidnappers.

In a separate effort in Ifelodun LGA, officers captured suspects linked to the kidnapping of construction workers and engineers along Owu Falls Road. Authorities were able to trace the suspects after locating a stolen phone belonging to one of the victims.

Additionally, a 23-year-old woman, Awawu Maliki Bodo, has been detained in connection with the abductions, with a revolver and three live cartridges discovered in her possession.

Investigations are continuing as police work to apprehend additional members of the criminal group.
