Katsina Community Watch Corps Member Killed in Bandit Attack

KATSINA, Nigeria — A member of the Katsina Community Watch Corps was killed by suspected bandits in an attack along the Kankara axis of the state on March 7.

Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency and security expert in the Lake Chad region, reported the incident in a post on X.

According to the source, the victim, identified as Sani Kulle, 35, of Gidan Barmu Village, was ambushed around 12:20 p.m. while traveling from his community to his duty post at Mararrabar Kankara. The assailants, led by a notorious bandit known as Tsoho and riding motorcycles, opened fire on Kulle.

The attackers fled the scene with the victim’s rifle, leaving him critically injured. Following the incident, the Divisional Police Officer mobilized a joint police team to investigate. Kulle’s body was later transported to the General Hospital in Malumfashi, where a medical examination confirmed his death. Authorities also recovered the victim’s motorcycle from the site of the attack.

Law enforcement officials stated that efforts are ongoing to apprehend those responsible for the attack.
