University of Lagos Academic Staff Union Announces Indefinite Strike
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) has announced plans to initiate an indefinite strike, effective Wednesday.
The union cited grievances over salary disputes, describing recent payments made by the university management in January and February 2026 as “amputated.”
The decision to strike was communicated in a statement issued following an emergency meeting on Tuesday, signed by ASUU Chairperson Idou Kehinde and Secretary Adesina Arikawe.
The union has indicated that strike action will continue until its demands are addressed by university management.
