The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, announced on Thursday that the FCT Administration would construct essential infrastructure in the newly designated Waru-Pozema District, facilitating both resident and developer occupancy.

Wike made the remarks following an inspection of ongoing projects throughout the FCT. He emphasized the administration’s commitment to coordinating with appropriate agencies to assess the provision of necessary infrastructure in Cadastral Zone D16, where the district is located.

“We will consult with the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) and other relevant bodies to explore potential steps forward, including whether the infrastructure plans will be included in the 2026 budget,” Wike said. “We will take every necessary action to ensure that the required infrastructure is in place so that residents can move in.”

During his tour, Wike also expressed satisfaction with the progress of various judicial infrastructure projects. He noted that contractors for the Court of Appeal complex have assured completion by May. Additionally, he reported that the judges’ quarters, including those for the Federal High Court, have already been furnished.

The project includes 10 duplexes for the Federal High Court, 20 for the FCT High Court, and another 10 for the Court of Appeal, with plans for inauguration coinciding with the third anniversary of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

Wike further inspected a significant road project in Katampe, likening it to a ring road and commended the contractor for the quality and speed of construction. He praised the China Geo-Engineering Corporation, describing it as a reliable partner.

“It’s one of those companies you can trust,” he remarked.

The minister also acknowledged the effective oversight provided by FCDA officials under Acting Executive Secretary Engr. Richard Yunana Dauda. Wike explained that his frequent project inspections are driven by a commitment to service and the trust placed in him by President Tinubu.

“When the President has confidence in you and assigns you a task, you must be devoted to the job,” he stated.

In matters of party politics, Wike urged for unity within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), emphasizing the importance of reconciliation before discussing future electoral strategies. He expressed optimism about the party’s competitiveness, provided members engage sincerely in the reconciliation process, and noted that the focus is currently on the upcoming convention.
