Four Suspects Arrested for Attacks in Kano State
KANO, Nigeria — The Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has reported the arrest of four young men suspected of attacking residents and stealing mobile phones in Dorayi Babba, located in the Gwale Local Government Area.
The suspects were apprehended during a routine patrol after local residents alerted officials about a group of individuals reportedly causing disturbances in the area.
In a statement released on Friday, NSCDC Public Relations Officer SC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi detailed that a concerned resident informed officers at a nearby outpost about a group of armed youths gathering near a community school.
The statement indicated that the suspects allegedly targeted individuals who were praying Taraweeh and passersby, stealing their belongings, including mobile phones.
NSCDC personnel swiftly responded to disperse the group, leading to the arrest of four individuals identified as Yusuf Auwal, 18; Abubakar Abdullahi, 21; Huzaifa Ismail Aliyu, 27; and Yushau Abubakar, 17. All suspects reside in Dorayi Babba.
Officials stated that the suspects were apprehended after allegedly attacking a resident and snatching his mobile phone. At the time of their arrest, they were found in possession of a sharp knife and two parcels of marijuana.
The command emphasized that the suspects were engaged in activities that threaten public safety.
“Operatives on routine patrol apprehended four suspects in connection with public disturbances and theft in Dorayi Babba,” the statement noted, adding that the arrests followed an attack on a victim.
The NSCDC confirmed that investigations into the incident have been completed, and the suspects will be charged in court.
Authorities are encouraging residents to continue sharing information with security agencies to assist in crime prevention and enhance community safety.
