Troops kill one terrorist, injure many in Zamfara raid

Nigerian Army Neutralizes Suspected Terrorist in Zamfara Operation
SHINKAFI, Nigeria — Nigerian Army troops have neutralized a suspected terrorist and recovered weapons during operations in the Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, according to military reports.
The operation, part of the ongoing Operation FANSAN YANMA, took place on March 13 following credible intelligence regarding armed bandits and other criminal elements using the area as a hideout. Security analyst Zagazola Makama shared details of the operation on social media platform X on Saturday, citing security sources.
Troops from the 1 Brigade conducted a deliberate clearance mission targeting suspected terrorist camps in Tubali and Zangon Danmaka. During the engagement at Tubali, they encountered suspected terrorists in a brief gun battle that forced some individuals to flee into nearby forests. One suspected terrorist was neutralized, while others are believed to have escaped with potential gunshot injuries.
Military sources reported that troops recovered one AK-47 rifle, a magazine containing two rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and a motorcycle presumed to belong to the fleeing suspects. The items were secured, and additional searches were conducted to ensure safety in the area.
When troops advanced to Zangon Danmaka, they found no suspected terrorists, suggesting the individuals vacated the area prior to the military’s arrival. The military has indicated that patrols and surveillance will continue in the vicinity to prevent the regrouping of terrorists and to bolster regional security.
