Abia State Police Commissioner Issues Directive on Unregistered Vehicles

UMUAHIA, Nigeria — Commissioner of Police for Abia State, Danlandi Isa, has ordered officers to impound vehicles lacking registration plates and those with obscured plates. This directive aims to enhance security within the state.

The order was communicated Thursday during a briefing with strategic officers following a conference at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, attended by senior officers and the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu.

Isa instructed Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and departmental heads to thoroughly investigate these vehicles and ensure any related cases are prosecuted rigorously in court.

He urged officers to adopt a proactive approach to security, particularly during the rainy season, when criminal activity tends to rise. Officers were reminded to remain vigilant and take decisive action against criminal elements.

The Commissioner acknowledged the hard work and dedication of officers in maintaining law and order and encouraged them to exemplify professionalism and civility in their duties. He emphasized the importance of adhering to human rights standards, particularly in protecting the rights of suspects during investigations.

Additionally, Isa called for strict discipline among officers and reiterated the proper use of firearms in accordance with Force Order 237.
