American jazz singer, Cassandra Wilson dies at 70

Cassandra Wilson, the Grammy Award-winning American jazz vocalist, has died at the age of 70. Wilson passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, in her hometown of Jackson, Mississippi.

Her management confirmed the news in a statement. Robert Torre, her manager, noted that Wilson “transitioned peacefully at home, surrounded by family and close friends.” He also requested privacy for the family but did not provide details regarding the cause of her death.
