APC ruined Nigerians’ lives — Abdullahi; We’re solving problems Atiku created, Morka replies

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) spokesperson, Bolaji Abdullahi, criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC) for detrimental policies that he claims have negatively impacted the lives of Nigerians. In response, APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka parsed the issues, attributing some of the country’s economic challenges to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
The exchange occurred during a panel discussion on News Central’s Breakfast Central on Thursday, where both spokespersons addressed the APC’s performance ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Abdullahi asserted that the policies under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu have exacerbated economic and social hardships, urging the government to recognize its failures and reconsider its strategies. He remarked that attempts to improve conditions often seem to do more harm than good, comparing the administration’s tactics to attempting to repair a pothole and inadvertently damaging the entire road.
“Their efforts in the last three years resemble filling a pothole but instead leaving the economy in a ditch,” Abdullahi stated. He emphasized that the effectiveness of government policies should be evaluated based on their real-world impact on citizens, rather than official claims of success.
Furthermore, he pointed out the increasing difficulties faced by everyday Nigerians, criticizing the ruling party for failing to articulate the specifics of its “Renewed Hope” agenda. Abdullahi noted, “Nigeria is home to the largest number of poor people, yet there is little clarity about this Renewed Hope agenda.”
Morka countered Abdullahi’s claims, asserting that Atiku Abubakar played a significant role in the country’s economic struggles. He criticized the ADC presidential candidate’s leadership record, suggesting that Abubakar’s tenure contributed to the country’s economic deterioration.
“My colleague speaks for a candidate who is arguably the most critical actor in the economic sabotage of this country,” Morka said. He accused Atiku of failing to deliver on his promises while in office, alleging that his administration mismanaged $16 billion intended for electricity projects.
Morka further claimed that the current APC government is working to rectify the challenges posed by previous administrations, including Atiku’s. He maintained that Atiku’s record should be paramount in any critique of the present government’s efforts.
“When a man like him mounts this sort of critique of a government that is trying to solve problems he principally created, it warrants scrutiny,” Morka added. He urged the public to consider Atiku’s past performance as essential when evaluating his criticisms of the APC.
