Suspected Bandits Abduct Resident, Burn Security Outpost in Kebbi State Attack

Suspected bandits abducted Alhaji Yusuf Bazamfare during an attack on the Tsamiya community in Kebbi State, Nigeria, on Saturday night, June 20, 2026. The assailants set fire to a Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) outpost and a residential building before fleeing the scene.

The incident was reported in a statement from the Kebbi State Police Command, released on Sunday by spokesperson SP Bashir Usman. The police indicated that the attackers arrived in the community, opened fire indiscriminately, and caused widespread panic among residents.

In addition to the abduction of Bazamfare, the attackers incinerated an NSCDC checkpoint and the home of a local resident, Sule Mai Goge, according to the police statement.

In response to the violence, the Commissioner of Police in Kebbi State has ordered the immediate deployment of additional security personnel to the area to enhance safety and protect residents. The police confirmed that efforts are ongoing to rescue Bazamfare and apprehend those responsible for the attack.

“The police, alongside other security agencies, have initiated investigations and intensified operations to secure the release of the abducted individual and ensure that the perpetrators face justice,” the statement noted.

Authorities are urging residents to remain calm and continue to provide information to security officials to aid in combating criminal activities in the region.
