Suspected Bandits Sighted in Niger State Following Clash
NIGER STATE, Nigeria — Groups of suspected bandits have been reported moving through the Mailaka axis toward Kotonkoro in the Mariga Local Government Area. This activity follows a recent violent encounter in the region.
Security analyst Bakatsine shared information on X, indicating that the bandits’ movements were linked to an attack on the farm owned by Alhaji Hashimu Kotonkoro, the local vigilante leader.
“Fresh groups of bandits have been sighted moving through the Mailaka axis toward Kotonkoro,” Bakatsine stated.
He advised residents in the area to remain vigilant as the situation unfolds. According to Bakatsine, two individuals sustained gunshot wounds during the altercation and are currently receiving medical treatment. Additionally, several others were reportedly abducted and taken into nearby forests.
As of now, the incident has not been officially confirmed by local authorities.
