Two Men Convicted in Bauchi State Burglary Case

Bauchi State—A Magistrate’s Court has found two men guilty of conspiracy, criminal trespass, housebreaking, and theft following a burglary incident in Liman Katagum, within the Bauchi Local Government Area.

The court’s decision was announced Thursday by Bauchi State Police Command spokesperson SP Nafiu Habib.

The case commenced after a resident of Bandan Village reported to the Liman Katagum Police Division on June 27, 2023, that his home had been broken into several weeks prior.

The convicted individuals, identified as 28-year-olds Iliyasu Musa and Ibrahim Isah, both hailing from Baluwa Village, were accused of collaborating to force entry into the residence and steal various personal belongings. Among the stolen items were two Android phones, two keypad phones, a power bank, 20,000 Naira in cash, two t-shirts, and a wristwatch. The total estimated value of the stolen property is approximately 244,000 Naira.

SP Habib stated that detectives traced and apprehended the suspects during the investigation. He added that both men confessed to their involvement in the crime before their arraignment.

“Following preliminary investigations, the two suspects were arrested. They confessed to the offence during interrogation and were subsequently charged to court, where they were convicted,” Habib remarked.
