Rangers to Face AS Sobemap in CAF Champions League Preliminary Round
Nigerian champions Rangers will open their CAF Champions League campaign with a preliminary round matchup against AS Sobemap of Benin Republic, according to DAILY POST. The Flying Antelopes will host the first leg of the tie before traveling for the second leg.
If Rangers advance, they will encounter either ASN Nigelec from Niger Republic or Algeria’s MC Alger in the second preliminary round.
Rivers United has drawn a challenging first preliminary round opponent in Cote d’Ivoire’s San Pedro. Should Finidi George’s team prevail, they will compete against either Vipers from Uganda or Mauritania’s FC Nouadhibou to secure a place in the group stage.
The first leg of matches in this initial round is scheduled for September 4 to 6, with return fixtures set for September 11 to 13, 2026. The second preliminary round will take place from October 16 to 18, followed by return matches from October 23 to 25, 2026.
