CAF Champions League: Rivers United grab crucial away draw against San Pedro
Rivers United and San Pedro concluded their first leg of the CAF Champions League preliminary round with a 1-1 draw at Laurent Pokou Stadium on Saturday.
Despite creating multiple scoring opportunities, neither team managed to find the back of the net during the first half. The match took a turn early in the second half when San Pedro’s Issouf Dosso scored in the 56th minute to give his team a 1-0 lead.
However, Rivers United responded effectively, with substitute Iyowuna Douglas equalizing in the 69th minute.
The second leg of this preliminary round tie will take place at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo next Sunday.
In another match, Nigeria’s Rangers will face SOBEMAP FC of Benin Republic at the Moshood Abiola Sports Complex in Abeokuta on Sunday.
