Court affirms Arobo as APC candidate for Owo/Ose House of Reps seat
Federal Court Upholds Arobo’s Candidacy for Owo/Ose Federal Constituency
ABUJA — A Federal High Court has confirmed Abdulghani Arobo as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Owo/Ose Federal Constituency seat in Ondo State.
Arobo had filed a lawsuit against the APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), challenging the results of the party’s primary election held on May 16, 2026. The case was documented as FHC/ABJ/CS/26.
In a ruling issued on Wednesday, Justice Peter Lifu validated Arobo’s election, stating he received the majority of legitimate votes cast during the primary. The court noted that Arobo secured 7,959 votes in Owo Local Government Area and 2,583 votes in Ose Local Government Area.
“Upon the summation of all the votes cast at the 23 wards in Owo/Ose Federal Constituency, Arobo is entitled to be declared the lawful winner and nominated to INEC as the APC candidate for the House of Representatives,” Justice Lifu stated.
The court instructed the APC and INEC to officially recognize Arobo as the primary election winner and barred acknowledgment of any other candidates. It also mandated that Arobo’s name be submitted to INEC for the upcoming general elections.
Additionally, Justice Lifu directed INEC to reopen its portal to facilitate the uploading of Arobo’s name as the lawful winner of the primary election. The court confirmed that all five inquiries presented by Arobo were resolved in his favor.
