Dead or alive, Mele Kyari must be brought to us – Oshiomole orders immediate arrest of ex-NNPC boss

Senator Calls for Arrest of Former NNPC CEO Amid Corruption Allegations
Abuja, Nigeria — Senator Adams Oshiomhole on Wednesday demanded the immediate arrest of Mele Kyari, the former Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), citing serious allegations of corruption and financial misconduct during his tenure.
Oshiomhole accused Kyari of failing to account for what he described as the mismanagement of trillions of naira. He urged the Senate committee to act promptly and utilize its constitutional powers to address the allegations against Kyari.
“The committee must have the courage to issue a warrant for Kyari’s arrest today,” Oshiomhole asserted. “He must be made to answer for his actions while in office. Even if he is deceased, we want to see the body and acknowledge that he passed without accounting for his alleged crimes.”
The senator highlighted ongoing financial struggles in the country, suggesting that revenue streams have gone unaccounted for while the government is burdened with debt. He questioned how Kyari was able to cover medical expenses abroad, referencing reports from competent auditors that raised significant concerns.
“Mele Kyari cannot be represented by anyone else; he is no longer managing director, and it is his responsibility to account for his actions,” Oshiomhole stated. “We must eliminate exceptions and excuses. I will advocate for the arrest of both past and present managing directors of NNPC for their total disregard of the Nigerian Constitution and failure to account for substantial alleged abuses of our revenue.”
Oshiomhole’s comments underscore the ongoing scrutiny of Nigeria’s oil sector, where allegations of mismanagement and corruption have persisted for years.
