EPL table: Arsenal go top after 2-0 win at Sunderland


Arsenal secured a 2-0 victory against Sunderland in the Premier League at the Stadium of Light on Saturday night, thanks to two goals in the second half.

Heading into the match with a perfect record of three wins, Arsenal aimed to climb above Manchester City in the league standings. City is scheduled to face Manchester United in the Derby on Sunday evening.

The first half ended without a score, as Arsenal dominated possession but struggled to find the back of the net. The breakthrough came shortly after halftime when Bruno Guimaraes, who came off the bench, fired a powerful shot to give Arsenal the lead. The goal followed a crucial penalty save by Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya, who denied Sunderland’s Enzo Le Fe.

Bukayo Saka sealed the victory for the Gunners by converting a penalty after being fouled in the penalty area. With this win, Arsenal now holds 12 points in the league, maintaining a three-point advantage over City, who could equal their total with a win at Old Trafford.
