Government Intensifies Efforts to Secure Release of Abducted Schoolchildren and Teachers
The Nigerian Federal Government is ramping up efforts to secure the release of schoolchildren and teachers recently abducted in Oyo and Borno states, emphasizing that their rescue is a top national priority.
During a security briefing in Abuja, Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, highlighted the urgent nature of the situation. He underscored that the recent kidnappings pose a serious threat to the country’s education system and its future.
Idris confirmed that security agencies have been fully mobilized for rescue operations, operating under directives from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He stated that the administration is dedicated to ensuring the safe return of all victims and bringing those responsible to justice.
“The President has made it clear that no child belongs in captivity and that no effort will be spared in this endeavor,” Idris said.
He also extended assurances to the families of the abducted individuals, affirming support from President Tinubu as the government continues its search.
In line with these efforts, President Tinubu has directed a robust response from security agencies as they work to track down the abductors.
