‘Free Sowore now’ – Protesters storm Federal High Court Abuja [VIDEO]

Youths Protest Outside Abuja Court for Sowore’s Release

ABUJA, Nigeria — A crowd of Nigerian youths gathered outside the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday to demand the immediate release of Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate for the African Action Congress (AAC).

As court proceedings commenced, protesters chanted slogans and expressed their calls for Sowore’s freedom. This demonstration coincided with a scheduled ruling regarding Sowore’s bail application and the revocation of a bench warrant issued against him.

Currently, Sowore is remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre following a court order. Justice Mohammed Umar has set June 30, 2026, as the date for a decision on Sowore’s request.

During the protest, participants sang songs urging for Sowore’s release, with chants like, “Free Sowore now. We want a better Nigeria.” They appealed to security personnel present at the court, encouraging them to serve the public in a manner that fosters a brighter future for the next generation.

The court proceedings are ongoing as the legal matter continues to unfold.
