Gov Alia reacts as terrorists attack Benue community, gun down scores

Benue State Governor Condemns Violent Attack in Katsina-Ala

Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has denounced a terrorist attack on the Saai community in the Mbajir ward of the Katsina-Ala Local Government Area. The incident, which occurred on Wednesday morning, left several individuals injured.

A statement from the governor’s media aide, Tersoo Kula, described the attackers as “terrorists masquerading as herdsmen.” Alia characterized the assault as a “senseless attack on innocent civilians.”

“This attack is an ugly, cowardly, and unacceptable act of violence, particularly coming at a crucial time when our hardworking farmers have returned to their ancestral lands to cultivate their crops,” the statement read.

Alia further emphasized that these aggressors are undermining the peace and food security of the state by targeting the period when crops are developing, threatening hopes for a plentiful harvest.

In response to the attack, the governor has directed all relevant security agencies to initiate a “manhunt for the perpetrators” to ensure they are brought to justice.
