Gov Yusuf appoints Magashi as Co-Chair of Kano anti-drug abuse taskforce


KANO, Nigeria — Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has appointed Dr. Aminu Garba Magashi as Co-Chair of the Kano State Anti-Drug Abuse Task Force. The announcement was made on Monday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

This appointment is part of the administration’s commitment to enhance collaboration with civil society organizations, public health experts, and other stakeholders in addressing substance abuse, particularly among youth. The governor emphasized that the initiative is essential for building a safer and healthier society by targeting the root causes of drug abuse.

“Dr. Magashi’s extensive experience and dedication to public service will bolster the efforts of the Anti-Drug Abuse Task Force and aid in the state’s campaign to reduce drug abuse,” the statement read.

In addition to the appointment, Governor Yusuf revealed plans to establish a mobile court aimed at expediting the prosecution of drug-related offenses and social crimes within the state. This initiative seeks to promote swift justice, improve law enforcement, and deter criminal activities associated with drug abuse.
