‘I cannot fight for myself’ – Shallipopi reveals why he stopped speaking on Dapper case

Nigerian singer Crown Uzama, better known as Shallipopi, announced that he will refrain from public discussions regarding his ongoing dispute with former manager Damilola Akinwumi, also known as Dapper, while the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) investigates the matter.

In a statement to his fans, Shallipopi indicated that both his legal team and the EFCC have advised him to avoid public commentary and allow the investigation to proceed without interference.

This announcement follows Shallipopi’s earlier allegations against Dapper Music and Entertainment Limited. On August 14, Shallipopi claimed that the company was withholding royalties from 46 of his songs, prompting him to threaten legal action involving the EFCC.

Shallipopi explained that discussing the case prematurely could jeopardize the pursuit of justice. “For justice to be served, I need to step back and trust the legal process,” he said.

He emphasized that the ongoing investigation is critical, and he will not use his music or social media channels to address the issue further. “I cannot sing about it, talk about it, or share it on any media platform for now,” he stated.

Despite his decision to remain silent, Shallipopi maintained his conviction in the validity of his claims. “While I stand firmly by the truth of my claims, I understand why I cannot make public commentary on matters under active investigation,” he noted.

The singer expressed the significance of this case, highlighting that his entire career is at stake. “Everything I have worked for since my teenage years is tied to this,” he said, adding that he remains hopeful for a just outcome. He concluded by sharing his frustration about not being able to address the matter publicly as he had previously.
