Amaechi Responds to Wike’s Claims on Political Worth
Rotimi Amaechi, the vice presidential candidate for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has issued a rebuttal to Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike, who suggested that Atiku Abubakar selected Amaechi as a running mate due to financial considerations.
In an interview on Politics Today, a program aired by Channels Television on Tuesday, Amaechi stated he does not engage with individuals he considers subordinates. This comment follows Wike’s remarks during a media session with journalists, where he claimed that Amaechi lacks political significance in Rivers State.
“I don’t respond to my subordinate. Wike never hired me. Once I finish mourning and transition into campaign mode, I will respond to anyone who insults me,” Amaechi declared.
Amaechi was previously a presidential candidate for the ADC but lost to Atiku Abubakar during the party’s primaries. Following the primaries, Atiku reached out to Amaechi, and the ADC subsequently announced him as his running mate for the upcoming 2027 general elections.
