‘I look up to Osimhen’ – Iheanacho
Midtjylland Striker Stanley Iheanacho Names Victor Osimhen as Role Model
Midtjylland striker Stanley Iheanacho has identified Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen as his primary role model following his return to the Danish club for the 2026/27 season.
Iheanacho rejoined Midtjylland this summer after a productive stint at CD Mafra in Portugal, where he scored 14 goals in the Liga 3. His pre-season with Midtjylland has been notably successful, as he has scored in each of the club’s three friendly matches against Lillestrøm, Malmö, and Silkeborg, bringing his total to three goals.
In an interview with Midtjylland’s official media on Tuesday, Iheanacho praised Osimhen, who currently plays for Galatasaray, as a significant influence on his development both on and off the pitch.
“I admire Victor Osimhen. He is an incredible individual, a fighter who has overcome poverty,” he said. “His warrior mentality is truly motivating, and he gives his all when he plays—he possesses an insatiable hunger for goals. I can see many qualities in him that resonate with me.”
Iheanacho indicated that he closely studies Osimhen’s performances and interviews to enhance his own skills. He expressed a hopeful aspiration of sharing the pitch with Osimhen in the future.
“I watch his highlights and all the interviews he participates in. I strive to learn from him, and my dream is to share the pitch with him someday,” he added.
Having returned to Midtjylland with increased confidence from his successful pre-season, Iheanacho aims to continue his scoring streak and justify the club’s decision to bring him back to Denmark.
