‘I paused for my mom’ – Kizz Daniel opens up on music break
Nigerian Afrobeats artist Oluwatobiloba Anidugbe, widely known as Kizz Daniel, has shared the personal reasons behind his recent hiatus from music.
In a response to a fan on the social media platform X this past Friday, the singer revealed that the break was prompted by the death of his mother earlier this year, rather than the production of a new album.
The fan, identified as @VicroyDominion1, had speculated that Kizz Daniel’s pause from the music scene was due to his work on new material. The artist clarified, stating, “I paused for my Mom, not an album… Lost her this year, but I gotta keep moving for the rest of the family… sorry I came late this year.”
In a previous disclosure in 2025, Kizz Daniel had also mentioned that his wife experienced the loss of her mother in 2024, highlighting the personal challenges the family has faced recently.
