Abia CP presents life insurance benefits to families of deceased officers

The Abia State Police Command has issued 21 cheques totaling 9,054,644.57 naira to the families of deceased officers as part of the Group Life Assurance and Family Welfare Scheme of the Nigeria Police Force.

The presentation took place on Friday at the Command Headquarters in Umuahia, with Commissioner of Police Afolabi Wilfred leading the event. Acting on behalf of Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu, CP Wilfred extended condolences to the families of the fallen officers.

He acknowledged that while no amount of compensation could replace the loss of their loved ones, the initiative reflects the Police Force’s commitment to the welfare of the families left behind. “This gesture is a recognition of the sacrifices made by your loved ones,” Wilfred said. He assured the beneficiaries that the Police Force remains dedicated to their wellbeing.

Wilfred also offered prayers for the families, asking for strength to endure their grief and for eternal rest for the deceased officers.

Ifeanyi Ezindu, representing the beneficiaries and a family member of the late Inspector Ezindu Egege, expressed gratitude toward both the Federal Government and the Nigeria Police Force for the financial assistance. He emphasized that while the funds could not replace the love and companionship of their late relative, the support is deeply appreciated.

Mrs. Onyebuchi Gloria Gift, widow of late Inspector Onyebuchi Henry Emeka, also spoke during the presentation. With tears in her eyes, she noted that the financial aid would greatly assist her and her children, despite the profound loss of her husband. She commended the Abia State Police Command for their remembrance and support for the families of deceased officers.
