ICYMI: Atiku, Amaechi, Hayatu-Deen pick N90m ADC presidential forms

Atiku, Amaechi, Hayatu-Deen Obtain Presidential Nomination Forms from ADC

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, and economist Mohammed Hayatu-Deen have secured expression of interest and nomination forms from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as they prepare for the 2027 presidential elections.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, a former governor of Edo State, collected Amaechi’s forms at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja on Friday. The ADC’s Deputy National Organising Secretary, Atiku Mohammed, facilitated the presentation to Amaechi’s representatives.

This development comes amid ongoing leadership disputes and multiple court cases within the ADC. Notably, former members Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso have defected to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) amid these internal challenges. ADC National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi characterized their departures as unrelated to the party’s issues.

Despite these disputes, ADC National Chairman Senator David Mark reassured members that the party would participate in the upcoming elections.

Additionally, Hayatu-Deen received his forms on Thursday night at the ADC National Secretariat, presented by National Organising Secretary Prince Chinedu Idigo. After securing the nomination, Hayatu-Deen expressed his commitment to adhere to the party’s decisions regarding primary election methodologies, whether through direct voting or consensus.

He emphasized the importance of democracy in enabling every eligible Nigerian to contend for elective positions. Hayatu-Deen remarked that citizens should have the freedom to select their leaders through open contests and credible elections.
