Jonathan can’t be blamed entirely for Boko Haram’s activities – Buhari’s ex-aide, Bashir Ahmad

Former Presidential Aide Calls for Shared Responsibility in National Security
Bashir Ahmad, a former media aide to the late President Muhammadu Buhari, stated Saturday that former President Goodluck Jonathan should not bear sole responsibility for the rise of Boko Haram during his administration.
In a post on social media platform X, Ahmad emphasized that national security is a collective duty that involves not only the government but also communities, traditional institutions, and religious leaders.
“Even at the height of the Boko Haram insurgency, I did not place the blame entirely on the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan,” Ahmad wrote. “I have long believed that the responsibility of securing our communities does not rest solely on the shoulders of government.”
He highlighted that while governments are tasked with providing leadership and resources, the role of citizens in enhancing security is equally important.
Ahmad urged Nigerians to actively participate by offering credible intelligence to security agencies and ensuring that criminals have no refuge.
“We must support our security agencies with credible information and refuse to provide safe havens for criminals,” he said. “Only through a united effort and a shared sense of responsibility can we restore lasting peace and ensure a safer future for our communities and our nation.”
