Kebbi: Troops engage terrorists, rescue six kidnapped victims

Troops from the Joint Task Force North-West, under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, successfully rescued six individuals who had been kidnapped in the Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State on September 2, 2026.
According to Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, Media Information Officer for the Task Force, the rescue operation was initiated following credible intelligence regarding suspected terrorist activities in Mehinua Village along the Wasagu-Ayu Road.
Danja reported that the troops mobilized quickly to the area and engaged in a gun battle with the assailants, forcing them to retreat and abandon the victims. All six individuals were rescued unharmed, and the vehicle used in the kidnapping was also recovered.
The rescued victims and the vehicle were subsequently handed over to the appropriate community authorities for further action.
