Leo DaSilva recommends video wills amid Alex Ekubo’s family dispute
Leo DaSilva Urges Video Wills After Family Dispute Following Actor Alex Ekubo’s Death
Former Big Brother Naija contestant Leo DaSilva has recommended the creation of video wills in light of disputes arising from the recent passing of Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo.
Ekubo passed away in May 2026 due to kidney cancer, with his burial taking place on June 18, 2026. Following his death, tensions surfaced among family members, particularly between Ekubo’s biological mother’s family and his stepmother, who had cared for him since he was seven years old.
The conflict intensified when Ekubo’s elder sister reportedly engaged a blogger to publish negative articles about the stepmother, despite Ekubo having publicly acknowledged both women in his life.
Public reaction has been mixed, with some questioning the motives of Ekubo’s biological mother, who had not been involved in his life for many years. Others suggested that the disputes may be linked to the distribution of the actor’s estate.
In response to these events, DaSilva emphasized the importance of being proactive about one’s wishes regarding property distribution. He remarked on social media, “I wish people understood that blood relatives can still mean nothing in the grand scheme of things. They could be your enemies and may not even be in your life.”
He reiterated the significance of video wills, advising individuals to document their intended distributions to prevent potential conflicts among family members after death.
Earlier this year, DaSilva had expressed his intention to prepare his children for the inevitability of his own death, emphasizing the importance of clarity in such matters.
