Heavy fighting has erupted between suspected members of the Lakurawa group and armed bandits in the Tapkin Giyayya area of the Mashegu Local Government Area in Niger State, according to reports.
Security expert Zagazola Makama shared details of the conflict on his official X account, noting that both sides have sustained casualties. The clashes reportedly began when armed bandits moved from forests in Zamfara State through the Tudun Magaji area into the Mashegu Forest.
Local residents indicated that multiple fighters were killed during the confrontation, while others were observed fleeing the scene with gunshot wounds. The precise number of casualties remains unverified at this time.
