NDLEA Conducts Major Drug Bust in Abuja, Arrests 132 Suspects

In a focused two-week operation from April 11 to April 25, 2026, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) successfully dismantled multiple drug joints and bunkers across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. The coordinated efforts led to the arrest of 132 suspects and the seizure of approximately 220 kilograms of various illicit substances.

The operation was executed by the Agency’s Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) in collaboration with the FCT Strategic Command. These raids targeted areas identified as hotspots for drug trafficking and abuse. Key locations included Torabora Hills, Area 3, Gwarinpa, AYA, Durumi, Banex, Dei-Dei, Kubwa, Apo, Kwali, Gwagwalada, Wuse Zone 4, Garki Area 10, Jabi, and the Suleja axis.

Recovered substances included nearly 215 kilograms of skunk, a cannabis variant, along with smaller quantities of Diazepam, Exol, Tramadol, Cocaine, and Methamphetamine, among others.

While some operatives faced resistance at Durumi Area 1 and the Suleja market, the NDLEA’s superior tactics led to the successful neutralization of the syndicates involved without any reported casualties.

DCGN Ahmed Sule Ningi, Director of Operations and General Investigation, briefed NDLEA Chairman, Brig Gen Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), on the successful operation. Ningi commended the professionalism and coordination displayed by all officers involved, underscoring the need for ongoing pressure to capitalize on these gains.

In his remarks, Marwa praised the commitment of the officers and emphasized the importance of replicating this operational model in other urban areas to combat drug trafficking effectively nationwide.
