NFF clears air on asking Infantino to resign as FIFA president

Nigeria Football Federation Denies Calls for FIFA President’s Resignation

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has officially refuted claims that it is demanding the resignation of FIFA President Gianni Infantino.

The NFF addressed allegations circulating, particularly on social media, suggesting it was among football associations advocating for Infantino’s departure.

In a statement, the NFF emphasized, “Contrary to reports, especially on social media, the NFF has never asked and is not asking for FIFA President Mr. Gianni Infantino to step down.”

“This is outright falsehood. Kindly disregard,” the statement concluded.

This clarification comes amid ongoing challenges faced by Infantino in his presidency, including the fallout from his unsuccessful attempt to sell stakes in the World Cup to private investors. Additionally, UEFA has threatened to boycott the 2030 World Cup if Infantino does not resign.
