NFL: Aaron Rodgers claims actress Shailene Woodley wanted another man after accepting marriage proposal

NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers has made allegations regarding his engagement to actress Shailene Woodley, claiming that she expressed a desire to pursue a relationship with another man shortly after accepting his marriage proposal.

Rodgers shared these details during an appearance on the podcast “Not Just Football” hosted by Cam Heyward on September 10. He described the timeline of their relationship, noting that while Woodley initially accepted his proposal, she later conveyed her reluctance to move forward with their marriage.

“I dated Shailene, I proposed and she said yes,” Rodgers recalled. “She maybe felt like she was forced to make a decision; she could have said no. But not a couple of days after that, she told me, before we got married, like, ‘I got to go [be with] this guy.’”

The NFL star stated that Woodley removed her engagement ring by March, and they attempted to reconcile several times following their split. He also addressed claims regarding the impact of their breakup on Woodley’s mental health, asserting that he was not responsible for any reported depression she experienced.

“Her story is, I ruined her life and gave her crazy depression because I left her,” Rodgers said. “But in actuality, she told me that and took off the ring by March.”

Rodgers explained that he felt compelled to speak publicly about their relationship to correct what he described as inaccurate narratives surrounding the situation.

“There’s just a lot of narratives out there that are just not true, and they portray things a certain way because they can get away with it,” he said.

Additionally, Rodgers made a comment regarding his past relationships, suggesting that his former partners’ fame peaked during their time together.
