Nigeria not practising true democracy – Adekunle Gold

Nigerian music artist Adekunle Gold recently expressed concerns regarding the state of democracy in Nigeria, stating that the country does not fully embody democratic principles.

During an appearance on the One54 Podcast, Adekunle praised fellow musician Davido for reportedly reaching out to former U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the recent governorship election in Osun State. He emphasized that Nigeria’s political system falls short of true democratic practices.

“We are not truly practicing democracy in Nigeria. We are not doing what a democratic society should do,” Adekunle said. He expressed hope that the administration of President Bola Tinubu would demonstrate an improved commitment to governance and uphold democratic values compared to his predecessor.
