NLO mandates financial reporting compliance for clubs

NLO Requires Standardized Financial Reporting from Clubs

The Nationwide League One (NLO) has announced a new directive mandating all member clubs to adhere to standardized financial reporting protocols. This initiative aims to enhance the league’s commercial viability.

In a statement released on Sunday, the NLO outlined that clubs must produce and submit audited or certified financial statements by the conclusion of each season. These documents are required to include comprehensive details regarding revenue sources, operational expenses, and player salaries.

The NLO emphasized the necessity of transparency for clubs wishing to maintain their participation in the league. This measure aligns with international best practices as well as the Club Licensing Regulations set forth by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

To mitigate potential debt issues, clubs are also required to demonstrate evidence of timely payments to players and staff. Additionally, all revenue generated from sponsorships, grants, and transfer fees must be accurately documented and reported to the league’s secretariat.

This directive aims to strengthen the league’s financial framework and attract potential corporate partners and investors.
