Notorious bandit kingpin, Sani Yellow debunks death rumour [Video]

Notorious Bandit Kingpin Denies Death Reports

Alhaji Sani Yellow, a notorious bandit leader, has publicly refuted claims of his death following reports that surfaced in the wake of a recent security operation in Zamfara State.

In a video posted on the social media platform X on Wednesday, Sani Yellow declared he was alive and attributed the rumors of his demise to mistaken identity. The video was shared by a user known as Mobilisingnigerians.

The accompanying message clarified, “UPDATE: Alhaji Sani Yellow posted a video denying his death that occurred two days ago, which was wrongly reported on social media. The deceased is a commander loyal to Gwaska, not Alhaji Yellow himself. The name ‘Yellow’ has become a common moniker in the banditry community.”

Reports had previously indicated that a bandit commander, identified as Kachalla Sani Yellow, was killed during a security operation in Anka Local Government Area. This commander was alleged to have coordinated multiple attacks along the Anka–Bagega Road and was killed during a confrontation involving the Maiduguri Special Vigilantes, who are participating in ongoing counter-banditry efforts.

His body was displayed to local residents in Anka to demonstrate the operation’s success.

Sani Yellow’s latest video suggests that the individual killed was a different commander nicknamed “Yellow,” loyal to a bandit leader known as Gwaska, rather than the well-known kingpin himself.

As of now, authorities have not released an official statement to clarify the identity of the individual killed during the operation.
