US firm threatens asset seizure as ex-presidential aide Laolu Akande faces defamation lawsuit

A political advisory and lobbying firm based in the United States, Von Batten-Montague-York, announced Monday that Laolu Akande, a former presidential aide and operator of Empowered Newswire, has received a federal court summons and complaint related to allegations of defamation.

In its statement, the firm confirmed that its process server successfully delivered the legal documents to Akande, who is also known as Pastor Olaolu Akande. The announcement stated that Akande and co-defendant Ademola Bello now have the opportunity to engage legal counsel and prepare their defense in federal court.

“The clock is now ticking for Mr. Ademola Bello and Pastor Akande to respond to the allegations of defamation against them in federal court,” the firm noted. It added that both individuals must respond within the timeline set by federal law to avoid potential repercussions.

Failing to respond adequately could lead to an application for entry of default against them, potentially resulting in a default judgment, the firm warned.

“If a monetary judgment is entered, we intend to pursue all lawful enforcement remedies, including asset seizure, wage garnishment, and other appropriate collection measures, to ensure that Dr. Von Batten is made whole,” the statement concluded.
