Ogun State Commissioner Urges Unity Among Isese Worshipers
Abeokuta, Ogun State — Sesan Fagbayi, the Ogun State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, has called on Isese worshipers to foster unity and peace within their communities to gain greater recognition from the government.
Fagbayi made this appeal during a meeting with traditional worshipers representing the four divisions of the state, which took place at Oke-Mosan in Abeokuta. He emphasized the importance of collaboration among worshipers, stating that the government is unlikely to acknowledge their distinct groups unless they present a united front.
The commissioner praised the traditional worshipers for their successful observance of the 2025 Isese Day celebration and expressed hope for an even more vibrant event this year. He noted that Governor Dapo Abiodun values their contributions, particularly their efforts in mitigating issues related to banditry and kidnapping in the state. Fagbayi urged worshipers to continue their support for both the government and local traditional leaders to benefit the state as a whole.
Femi Osanyinpeju, the Director of Culture, remarked that the meeting aimed to facilitate effective preparations for the upcoming 2026 Isese Day celebration, which will involve traditionalists statewide.
Adebayo Adimula, Chairman of Onifa Yewa/Awori, expressed gratitude for the support from the Abiodun administration, indicating that such assistance has inspired hope for the preservation of culture and traditions in the region.
