Suspected Armed Robber Arrested by Ondo State Police
Operatives of the Ondo State Police Command have arrested a suspect linked to armed robbery in the Abusoro area of Akure South Local Government.
The suspect, identified as Idowu Babayemi, was apprehended during a routine patrol in the Onimalu area. According to police spokesperson Abayomi Jimoh, officers discovered a locally made pistol while searching Babayemi after his detention.
Jimoh explained that the arrest resulted from credible intelligence gathered over several weeks, which facilitated the operation. He confirmed that Babayemi will be charged in court following the conclusion of investigations.
“This successful operation illustrates the command’s commitment to proactive and intelligence-driven policing aimed at combatting armed robbery, illegal arms proliferation, and other criminal activities throughout the state,” Jimoh said.
The Commissioner of Police has praised the officers involved for their vigilance, professionalism, and dedication to duty.
