Bauchi State Police Restore Order After Armed Clash
BAUCHI, Nigeria — The Bauchi State Police Command has reestablished order in the Tudun Yarima area following an armed confrontation involving suspected thugs.
The altercation occurred at approximately 8:30 p.m. on September 2, 2026, prompting police to respond to a distress call. Patrol teams from the ‘A’ Division Township, along with other joint units, were deployed to the scene, where they successfully dispersed the assailants and detained individuals linked to the unrest.
Police reported that several residents sustained injuries during the clash and were transported to Tashan Babiye Government Hospital for treatment; some of those injured remain hospitalized.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the conflict erupted when 25-year-old Babanyaya Aliyu allegedly conspired with others to assault the residence of a local man named Imrana. During the attack, the suspects reportedly targeted Imrana’s 27-year-old wife in an attempt to steal her Itel Android phone, valued at N100,000, and vandalized a motorcycle and a tricycle before fleeing.
This incident provoked a retaliatory attack, in which Imrana and others allegedly assaulted the suspect’s mother, resulting in injuries.
Authorities confirmed that one suspect is currently in police custody while efforts are ongoing to apprehend additional individuals who remain at large.
Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu condemned the violence and urged community members to refrain from resorting to self-help measures. “We condemn in strong terms the resort to self-help and acts capable of disturbing public peace,” Aliyu stated.
He reassured residents of the police command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, encouraging them to seek resolution through lawful avenues. “The Command remains unwavering in its commitment to protecting lives and property,” he added.
The police indicated that the investigation is ongoing and further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
