Kano Police Detain TikTok Personality Following Boyfriend’s Death
KANO, Nigeria — Authorities in Kano State have taken Fati Cele, a well-known TikTok personality, into custody after the death of her boyfriend, Isma’il Makaye, at her residence. The circumstances surrounding his death are currently under investigation.
Fati Cele, originally from Borno State, resides in a rented apartment in the Danbare area of Kano. She has garnered over 32,000 followers on TikTok.
A close associate of Makaye reported that Cele exited her home shouting about a fire, which prompted neighbors to rush to the scene. Upon entering the residence, they discovered Makaye with burn injuries and signs of blood on his body. Efforts to save him included transporting him to Nassarawa Hospital.
Following the incident, officers from the Dorayi Babba Police Division detained Cele as part of their ongoing investigation.
Friends and acquaintances of the couple noted that they had encountered relationship difficulties in the past, having reportedly separated before reconciling recently.
Makaye, a cosmetics trader residing in Hotoro Tishama, was buried at Unguwa Uku Yan Awaki after his remains were released for funeral rites, family associates confirmed.
As of now, police officials have not provided an official statement regarding the case.
