Police rescue two abducted Taraba girls, arrest suspects in Bauchi

Bauchi State Police Rescue Two Missing Girls

Bauchi State Police have successfully rescued two 13-year-old girls, Aisha and Zainab, who were reportedly abducted from their community in Taraba State. Authorities also apprehended two suspects linked to the case in Kirfi Local Government Area.

The girls had been missing since March, having last been seen leaving their homes in Fangari Hamlet, located in Bali Local Government Area of Taraba State. The police began their investigation after receiving a formal complaint on March 10 from the father of one of the missing girls, who reported that his daughter and her friend had not been found despite extensive searches by their families.

Following intelligence gathering, police operatives tracked the girls to Bara Town in Kirfi LGA, where they were located and rescued.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects, Auwal Muhammad and Abdulgaffar Musa—both 20 years old and residents of Unguwar Zangoma in Bara Town—allegedly conspired to transport the minors from Taraba State to Bauchi State without parental consent.

Both suspects have been arrested, while the rescued girls are currently under police protection as arrangements are made for their reunion with their families. The case has been referred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and potential prosecution.

Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, emphasized the police command’s dedication to combating crimes against children. He urged parents and guardians to monitor their children closely and report any suspicious activities to local authorities.

The police command reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding vulnerable individuals and ensuring that offenders of child-related crimes are held accountable.
