20-year-old JAS fighter abandons terror group, surrenders to troops in Borno
A 20-year-old fighter who was previously associated with the JAS terrorist group has surrendered to military forces in Borno State. The individual, identified as Kurso Muhammed, turned himself in around 2:25 PM on Sunday, August 23, to troops from the 21 Special Armoured Brigade at the New Abaram Resettlement Village.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama reported that Muhammed’s surrender was the result of ongoing intelligence-driven operations by military personnel in the region.
Currently, the former fighter is in military custody for screening and further processing.
Makama noted that the overall security situation in the area remains calm but unpredictable, while troop morale and effectiveness continue to be satisfactory.
