Yobe Police Uncover Illegal Firearms Manufacturing Site in Potiskum

POTISKUM, Yobe State — Operatives from the Yobe State Police Command have discovered an illegal firearms manufacturing site in Potiskum, resulting in the arrest of seven suspects.

The finding was announced Wednesday in a statement by State Police Public Relations Officer SP Dungus Abdulkarim. He noted that the Potiskum Area Command, working in conjunction with the Divisional Police Headquarters, conducted a coordinated raid based on credible intelligence.

Abdulkarim reported that police personnel targeted a blacksmith workshop located at Tasha Adua along Danchuwa Road. During the operation, authorities recovered two fabricated pistols, twenty-four muzzle pipes, nine gun butts, four unserviceable Dane guns, a filing machine, and a sharp cutlass.

“The suspects are currently undergoing thorough investigation to identify their collaborators, potential buyers, and the intended use of the fabricated firearms,” Abdulkarim stated.

Yobe State Commissioner of Police Usman Jibrin has instructed officers to intensify their investigation, identify additional illegal firearms fabrication sites, and evaluate the security risks associated with these activities.

The police have also urged the public to prevent their premises from being used for illegal activities, including the manufacturing of weapons. Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or security agency.
