Dare Dismisses Duke’s Claims on Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway Project
LAGOS, Nigeria — Sunday Dare, Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Publicity, has rebuffed assertions made by Donald Duke, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), regarding the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project. Duke contended that the initiative would not extend beyond Lagos State, suggesting it was not feasible for the government to undertake.
Duke described the project as “unnecessary,” urging the current administration to prioritize investments in electric power and healthcare services instead of focusing on coastal highway development.
In a response shared on social media platform X, Dare countered Duke’s claims, stating that work on the highway has advanced into Ogun State and is ongoing in the Ondo and Akwa Ibom sections.
“While Duke was talking on TV that the Coastal Highway won’t go beyond Epe, the project has reached Ogun State,” Dare asserted. He accused Duke of making statements driven by political motives, expressing disbelief that anyone could argue against what he termed “reality.”
Dare emphasized that constructive dialogue is essential and criticized what he characterized as frivolous political commentary.
